we have a 30 minute set at mum, and we're on from 11:15. we're the third band on. can i throw up a proposed set list and we can argue from there? not sure if we could fit 5 or 6 songs in, but i'll start with 6.

perhaps we don't end with this is the new thing?
and leave it with nothing ventured...
or put another 'slower-tempo-ed' tag on the set...
i like the first 4... and the idea of replicating the beginning of the album
Ditto, like the order of the first four. I don't really know which one would be better to end with, 'cause we ALWAYS end with Nothing Ventured, and when we don't we ALWAYS end with This is the New Thing. But maybe that's 'cause they work. Whatever. You boys battle it out.
what about the separation? should we include that in place of one of those two? i think it would be a good closing track.
cool, 'the separation' sounds good to me
Yup, I always love doing the Separation.
good - but where? and instead of...?
I'm just writing a comment here so that I am not the only one left out. I don't really mind any of the above suggestions. I know we always do this an we always do that, but guys we only play roughly once a month to totally different audiences! If you start talking about being repetitive you won't be able to shut me up about housework. Now THAT'S repetitive! :D
I think we should cut This is the New Thing out, and put Separation somewhere in the middle-to-end. New Thing is a relatively similar tone to I Can't Make You Love Me and But I Lose Myself, so having Nothing Ventured gives us a more varied set.

i reckon we should scrap 'this is the new thing' and use 'the separation' as our final song
if we need to cut one... we should cut 'but i lose myself'... in my opinion ;)
i guess, even though we do 'nothing ventured' regularly, it is a taste of a different facet of our music; different to the other up-beaters
mm?
