That's mostly because we have actually been pretty quiet of late - what with a worldwide pandemic, as well as the small thing of members giving birth, getting married, changing dayjobs and the like. However, no matter what the circumstances, Christmas will always get us back into gear. A bunch of different side projects have done the annual shakeout, as well as  a bunch of friends and their side projects. Free download single available via 4-4-2 Music Walking In Fields by Karoshi Final single from Karoshi's rather excellent (if we do say so ourselves) album, 'Sleepwalker', is the track, 'Walking In Fields'. The single comes with a radio edit and two remixes. One is by everybody's favourite remixer, Loopsnake, who pushes the drum loops and synth sounds through his glitched up electronics wringer. When the track was originally created, Karoshi asked Telafonica's Eliza Magill to write a song for the fledgling music. In the end, a few voice snippets were chopped up as rhythmic texture in the final mix. Here, Telafonica's remix reinstates Eliza's song over a minimalist backdrop. . Hinterlandt Presents: Through The Motions by Feralmedia Jochen Gutsch, often known as Hinterlandt, asked a while back if we'd like to do a remix for a project he had underway. The idea was that he'd give us a few short samples and we'd make a track out of it. The samples all came from a track called 'Motion' though nobody other than Jochen had heard it or knew how it sounded. All artists were given the same set of samples. The Telafonica remix went into krautrock territory, with an 303 line thrown in for good measure. The drum sounds all came straight from Blake's trusty Yamaha PSR-150 keyboard. Then some of the synth samples were plastered with liberal distortion. And so they went kosmiche.

Those Six Skeletons by Underlapper The Telafonica remix was mostly inspired by Actress, whose album from 2010, 'Splazsh', was one of the best electronic things of recent time (in my humble opinion!). In the end, the compressor wasn't pumped up quite as much as Actress would do it but, still, it makes its appearance as a creative effect for the first time in a Telafonica production.

Early this year, they also asked him if he wanted to contribute to this compilation, which he said yes to. So Telafonica jumped on the bandwagon and asked if we could be involved as well. While a little surprised at our interest (we're not exactly folk music) the label was happy for us to be a part. The idea of the compilation was for a bunch of relatively unknown artists (hence the title) to cover Townes Van Zandt songs. It turned out there were a few not so unknowns who contributed - Jad Fair, Great Lake Swimmers, J Tilman (of Fleet Foxes) etc - as well. Lunar Module work in synthpop mode, with a strong leaning towards early 80s stylings. The track they gave us was Get Low and duly sent us individual track files. Honing in on one section of the bass line, we re-recorded it with a dirty, lo-attack synth and then added some burbling 303s. Along with the dry as bones drums, that pretty much holds everything together under the pure pop melodies, until the original's main synth line is brought back in, heavily bitcrushed, towards the track's end.
